A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is an agreement between two parties whereby one party sells their exported electricity from their renewable generating station or project, to the second party. The seller of the electricity is typically the owner of a renewable generation project and the buyer is typically a utility company or an electricity trader. For the power system to work, there must be a balance between production and consumption of electricity. When in balance, the system is at 50 Hz.
Hydro Power is a steady source of renewable power that produces no CO2 emissions. And with only water as an input, the low operating costs of Hydro Power stabilise the price of electricity for everyone.
Hydro Power plants utilise the difference in height between the dammed water and the outflow area to generate water flow energy which rotates a turbine that drives an electric generator. The same water can then be utilised again in the next plant downstream.
Solar Power refers to the conversion of sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic cells or solar panels. It’s a renewable and sustainable source of energy that harnesses the abundant energy from the sun to generate electricity without emitting greenhouse gases or pollution.
